Koojo the artist is a Ghanaian recording artist based in Accra, Ghana. Since 2012, KTA has been working as a multidisciplinary in the creative industries of Ghana, Rwanda, Uganda and NYC. Exploring elements of R&B, Soul, Afro-fusion, Funk, Reggae and Rock, KTA has toured throughout the East/West Africa, UK, and USA and has opened for Paloma Faith, Jidenna, Santigold, Thundercat, Ben Lovett (Mumford and Sons), Ismaël Lô, and many more.
Aside from his solo works, KTA has also worked behind the scenes as a songwriter, creative director and consultant for numerous indie artists and labels in North America and Africa. From 2013-2015 KTA was commissioned to curate various immersive performance art shows throughout NYC. KTA curated a 7 room walk through immersive theater at the prestigious Whitney Museum titled "Bloo Voyage" in conjunction with the exhibition titled "Blues for smoke". In 2014, KTA and his 10 piece soul band King Holiday became a resident band for the world renowned Immersive theater show Sleep no more (NYC). In 2015, KTA was commissioned by the Brooklyn Museum to curate an immersive theater experience titled "Decoding Basquiat" in conjunction with the exhibition "Basquiat: The Unknown Notepads".
In 2016, KTA starred as a young Bob Marley (1973) in a musical performance role on HBO series "Vinyl" directed by Martin Scorsese and Executive producer Mick Jagger. KTA is currently preparing for a lead acting role in a dramatic comedy Indie film slated to be filmed October 2023 in New York City.
KTA is currently producing a tribute EP dedicated to his late mother who passed away in October 2022. KTA began recording the project in Ghana shortly after his mother’s passing ans is slated to release the tribute EP on Sep 16th 2023.
